回収することができるのか、その能力を評価します。\n共同研究の締結に先立って行った予備実験では、実際にマイクロプラスチックが採集できることを確認しています。まずは、川崎汽船が運航する運搬船にて航行中に海水取水ラインよりストレーナー（濾し網）でサンプルの採取を行い、東京海洋大学がそのサンプルからプラスチック片の収集、材質, サイズ等の分析を行うことで研究を進めていきます 。\n将来的には、定期航路の外航船舶を活用した外洋におけるマイクロプラスチックの回収ならびに、定期航路上の海域におけるマイクロプラスチックの密度のモニタリングシステムの構築等，発展的な研究につなげていきます。\n東京海洋大学は、マイクロプラスチックを含む海洋プラスチックごみの浮遊量を世界中の海で調査する等、この分野で研究をリードしてきました。\n川崎汽船株式会社 グループは、海運業を母体とする総合物流企業グループとして、「人々の豊かな暮らしに貢献する」という企業理念のもと、「青く美しい海を明日へつなぐ」ことを使命として、環境負荷の低減に取り組んでいます。\nこの共同研究を通じて、世界中の多くの海域を航行する川崎汽船の船舶
