In some parts I translated it word for word, but in other parts I just gave the gist of the sentences or the paragraphs. So in naming the title I used the word ‘epitome’, not ‘translation.’ This chapter treats the origin of H.C.E’s nickname ‘Earwig’, H.C.E’s confession to Cad about the rumor that he had a stealthy glance at the girls’ urination, and the wide spread of the rumor, which are the fundamental episodes of the story about H.C.E (and A.L.P)., 東京海洋大学名誉教授, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT)},
